Virtual Recess

Remember the joy of play – whether it was on the playground, in your room or in your backyard?  The belly laughs and losing track of time.

That feeling.  We are going to tap back into that.

At Recess we play games – ranging from interactive versions of board games to themed scavenger hunts –  and connect with others with the goal of having fun and getting those belly laughs.

FAQs

OK, I’m interested, but what do we actually DO in Recess?

Glad that you asked!  Each Recess has a slightly different set of activities, and sometimes there is a theme to enhance the fun and help you get into the spirit of play. Each Recess is a mix of large and small group activities that get you moving, thinking and creating. The themes give you an opportunity to express your individuality and immerse yourself in the experience.

Some examples of Recess activities are:

  • Charades
  • Freeze Dance
  • Targeted Trivia (based on the theme)
  • Musical Chairs
  • Follow the Leader
  • Simon Says
  • Scattergories
  • In-home Scavenger Hunt (a crowd pleaser!!)

Themes we’ve done:

  • The 70’s
  • The 80’s
  • Snack Foods
  • Spring
  • “What kind of pants am I wearing?”

We continue to add activities and themes as we go along so keep coming back to see what we have done. We certainly don’t want you to get bored!

Can I show up to the ongoing recess by myself?

Absolutely!!  We’d love that.  There will never be a “cool kids” table or any cliques.  It helps if you show up on time so that you can be a part of the activity right from the beginning, but if you have to be a little late please still join us!  Jennifer will make sure to integrate you into the fun as smoothly as possible.

But I’m an introvert.   (Ok that’s not technically a question, but we want everyone to feel welcome)

That’s actually perfect.  You are some of our favorite Recess attendees.  All the activities are low key and you can participate on your own terms. We will limit the size to 25 people so it won’t feel too overwhelming.  One of the best compliments we’ve received was “I usually dread these kinds of social activities, I was shocked at how quickly the hour flew by”. That’s as close to a “Introvert Seal of Approval” as you’re going to get!

Can I customize the Recess- celebration or group- for my specific needs?

Absolutely!  We have some themes already in place, but we’d be more than willing to work with you for your group’s needs. We can keep it scaled down and simple, or go crazy with a disco party or costumed murder mystery night.  The sky’s the limit!

Is there an age limit?

No, all the material is family friendly unless otherwise specifically stated. The caveat being that the child is old enough to understand what is happening and able  to participate without being a distraction. Recess can be a fun way to bond as a family – or if you need a break from the family it’s perfect for that too.  Looking to have a family reunion or cousin virtual sleepover? Book a Virtual Recess!

I’m glad I did!

Recess was so much fun!! It was an awesome way to take a break, clear out your head, and just have some fun and laughs. I'm not usually someone to jump into group activities, but I was curious to see how recess could happen over a Zoom meeting, and I really wanted to support Jen, so I signed up.  And I'm glad I did!  I've been on 1 too many calls where the time drags.... not with recess!! This is an awesome idea, thanks for hosting these Jen!!

Permission to play … you won’t regret it!

Who would have thought adults need recess too? As a self-employed consultant, I work a lot more than I play. I’ve  recently had the opportunity to spend an hour a week playing with others, and it’s quickly become the highlight of my week! Jen’s unique brand of creative fun brings much-needed laughter, silliness, and lightness to an often too-serious world. Give yourself and your colleagues permission to play...you won’t regret it!
